Despite being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, King Charles has shown little sign of slowing down, even though he is still undergoing grueling cancer treatment. The king made an emotional visit to Southport earlier this week and has made several public appearances in the past month, despite being on an official summer holiday at Balmoral. Now, an acquaintance of Queen Camila has revealed that her majesty and senior palace aides are concerned that the king may be burning out with his busy schedule, hurting his chances of making a full recovery in his battle with cancer.

Queen Camila has previously expressed her concerns, telling well-wishers publicly that she wanted Charles to "behave" and slow down. However, her almost joking tone on these occasions appears to mask genuine concern in private about her husband's reluctance to prioritize his recovery.

"A friend of Queen Camila told The Daily Beast that Camila was feeling very sad because he only started his holiday on Monday and then cut it short on Tuesday to do an incredibly intense engagement. Of course, she knows it's very important and it's impossible to try and tell Charles what to do, but the timing seems off. She wants him to slow down and she's afraid he's working too hard, and that's even before she gets to the Australian tour," the source said.

Express.co.uk exclusively revealed in June that palace officials were laying the groundwork for the monarch to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in October and tour Australia. The 27th meeting of the Prime Ministers will be the first of the king's reign. The Commonwealth Meeting is made up of 56 member states from across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and the Pacific. It will be the first time the small island nation of Samoa has hosted the high-level meeting. His majesty's appearance in Samoa will be accompanied by a mini-tour of Australia.

The source added that this visit is considered crucial to maintaining Australia's loyalty to the Commonwealth, especially since calls for a republic are gaining momentum in Australia. And the king is determined to appear no matter what.

"I think there has been a lot of positive chatter about the king doing well, returning to work and so on. But you know, he has cancer - he's not fine. He looked poor in Southport on Tuesday, in my opinion. Just look at the photographs from now compared to last year, and it's clear he's lost a lot of weight and aged dramatically. Camila has been telling him to take a break, but he's a workaholic and he won't listen," another source told The Daily Beast.

It's no secret that King Charles wears his heart on his sleeve and is devoted to his royal duties. However, with a cancer diagnosis and ongoing treatment, pushing himself to maintain such a full public schedule could seriously jeopardize his health recovery. While his commitment to serve is admirable, there is serious concern from palace aides and Queen Camila that if he does not find a healthier work-life balance soon, it could have serious long-term effects on both his health and ability to fulfill his kingly duties. Only time will tell if the new monarch can restrain his perfectionist tendencies and listen to the advice of those close to him, in order to ensure a long and healthy reign.
