There has been much discussion and anticipation around Prince Harry and Meghan’s visit to Colombia. Finally, pictures and videos have emerged that provide a glimpse into their memorable school visit. One of the first videos shows Harry and Meghan being warmly welcomed by the Vice President of Colombia and her husband upon arrival at the school. Students give performances to welcome the royal couple.

You can see the joy and ease with which Harry and Meghan greeted the Vice President, embracing her and her husband. Then a heartwarming moment occurs - Harry and Meghan hold the hands of some of the children as they go to plant a tree together on the school grounds. This symbolic tree planting will allow the school to remember the visit of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for eternity.

One of the most delightful moments caught on video is Prince Harry dancing his way through the school. This contrasts sharply with narratives painted by some in the UK media that Harry seems sad or unhappy. Here he is clearly filled with joy, dancing and interacting happily with students. It’s clear from watching that both Harry and Meghan are having a fantastic time on this visit, soaking in the warmth of the welcome from the school community.

The schoolchildren also put on performances showcasing their art, culture and talents for Harry and Meghan. Everything seems to have been beautifully planned to honor the royal couple. Another sweet moment captured is a little girl walking up and giving Meghan a hug. In pictures beforehand it was hard to make out details, but the video provides a lovely close up of the shy bow the girl gives before warming embracing Meghan. Kids have a natural way of sensing kindness in people, and this girl clearly felt very comfortable with Meghan.

In fact, throughout the event one little girl in particular seemed drawn to Meghan, not letting her out of her sight. She clung to Meghan, and they share several adorable photos together. There is something reminiscent about this girl and a young Meghan, possibly in her glasses and hair. It’s clear a connection formed between the two. For many of us, meeting Meghan would mean not letting her go without a fuss, just as this little girl did throughout the school visit!

Harry also appears to have made a new friend, shown holding the hand of one student. Ever good with children, there are also sweet moments of him high-fiving other students. It’s wonderful to see how at ease and natural both Harry and Meghan are with interacting with the kids. Studies have shown children can intuitively sense good or bad people - and the kids’ clear gravitating towards Harry and Meghan speaks volumes about their kind, welcoming nature.

The visit provided heartwarming glimpses of community, education and cultural celebration in Colombia. While the names of the school and some people remain difficult for an outsider to pronounce perfectly, the visit's positive message comes through loud and clear. It will no doubt be remembered fondly for a long time to come.
