During a recent school visit to Wales, Prince William revealed some new details about Princess Charlotte's hobbies and interests. While speaking to students at Swiss Valley Community Primary School in Wales on September 10th, William referenced his nine-year-old daughter's love of dancing.

He was having a conversation with 10-year-old Ruby Davis, who had won an individual reciting competition for Welsh Learners. Ruby presented William with friendship bracelets for himself and Princess Charlotte. William accepted the gifts and said "Thank you so much, they're going to love these. You'll see them out and about."

The Prince then joked that he would have to keep the bracelets away from his youngest son, Prince Louis, saying "I'll keep them away from Louie because he'll try and steal all his sister's kits." This lighthearted comment gave insight into Louis' playful personality.

Prince William went on to tell Ruby that "Charlotte loves her dancing and performing as well, so I'm going to show her your video when I get home and see where I've been today." This confirms that ballet and dance remain among Charlotte's chief interests, continuing a passion she has displayed since a young age.

William and Kate have previously spoken about Charlotte taking private ballet lessons since age three. Most recently, Kate said at an engagement in 2023 that Charlotte "loves ballet and is very keen." Fans have also seen Charlotte showcase her dance moves at various events.

She was spotted dancing beside her father at a Taylor Swift concert at Wembley Stadium last summer. In addition, Charlotte showed off her abilities while gleefully performing alongside her parents and siblings at the Platinum Jubilee concert in 2022.

This love of dance seems to have been inherited from Princess Charlotte's late grandmother, Princess Diana. Diana was an avid ballet hobbyist who took hundreds of secret lessons with dance teacher Phillipa Allan from 1981 to 1989.

Allan recalls in her recent memoir that the lessons provided Diana an emotional outlet and safe space. "She was able to be herself. She loved to move and loved to have fun," Allan said. "If something was on her mind, she would say so."

Ballet clearly brought Diana great joy and served as a coping mechanism. It appears her passion has now been passed down to her granddaughter Charlotte. The young Princess is growing up taking inspiration from strong, artistic women in her family.

In addition to revealing Charlotte's interest in dance, William's school visit gave a rare glimpse into the close-knit family dynamics of the Wales children. The Prince humorously referenced how his mischievous son Louis might try to "steal" things from his big sister.

Moments like this show William and Kate's priority of raising their children, including future King George, with as much normalcy as possible. While Charlotte, George and Louis live extraordinary lives in the public eye, comments from their father depict the everyday sibling playfulness they experience behind palace walls.
