Claims about Prince Harry's return to royal duties have been dismissed as reconciliation appears to be a long way off. Experts say that despite Harry recently acquiring a home in Europe near his cousin Princess Eugenie, mending ties with the royal family is still unlikely in the near future.
While Harry expressed his love for his family in a recent interview following King Charles's health scare, royal author Christopher Anderson remains unconvinced that reconciliation is imminent. He told Fox News that the number of family members openly supporting Harry and Meghan has dwindled to almost nothing. "No one wants to upset the king or Prince William. It's as straightforward as that," Anderson said.

He noted Princess Eugenie's unique position of having maintained ties with both the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family. However, Anderson believes Harry's new Portuguese property has more to do with proximity to Eugenie than a desire to be closer to Britain. "Perhaps Eugenie could serve as a mediator in the future, but for now any meaningful reconciliation seems far-fetched," he said.
Both King Charles and Prince William currently show little inclination toward healing rifts with Harry and Meghan, leaving their hopes of a royal reunion hanging in the balance for now.
Royal photographer Arthur Edwards, who has worked with the royal family for over 40 years, also observed significant changes in Harry's personality and demeanor after he began dating Meghan Markle. According to Edwards, Harry essentially cut off connections with many people, including members of the press, once his relationship with Meghan turned serious.

Edwards fondly recalls the fun-loving Harry he used to know prior to Meghan's arrival on the scene. He described the prince as easygoing and good-humored, bringing joy to royal engagements with his spontaneous gestures. One example was Harry hugging the Prime Minister of Jamaica despite expectations of formality. "Because my father said she likes a hug so I thought I'd get in first," Harry later explained with humor.
Edwards also remembers Harry playing football with children on a beach in Brazil, showcasing his down-to-earth side. The photographer smiled thinking of Harry wearing a picture of Prince William on his face after finishing a race, an amusing moment that showed his playful characteristics.
However, Edwards says Harry's demeanor did a complete 180 almost immediately after linking up with Meghan. Recalling an event in Manchester, Edwards said "He just cut us all dead." The photographer was stunned by the abrupt change.

Whereas Harry used to cooperate with press, Edwards now felt shut out after Meghan came on the scene. "It was overnight. Bang, it just changed," he stated solemnly.
While Edwards bears no ill will, he expressed missing the more easygoing Harry who brought levity to their jobs. After decades of watching Harry grow from a boy to a man, it was jarring for Edwards to witness such radical alteration in his behavior and relationships.
The photographer's portrait of Harry's metamorphosis mirrors the couple's ongoing public narrative. Though their love story inspired many, it has been shadowed by disputes - notably concerning their treatment of the press and ongoing family troubles since distancing from the Firm.

Harry's current reserved persona starkly contrasts memories of his prior carefreeness. But through all the controversy, his commitment to Meghan remains clear. By prioritizing his wife and forging a new path, Harry has transformed not just his own life but public image forever.
For better or worse, he is no longer the same man of before. And while some mourn that lost version of the prince, in choosing personal joy over duty, Harry has rewritten his own story on his terms.
