James Middleton, the brother of Princess Kate, recently revealed an intriguing story about a memorable coastal walk he took with his sister that almost ended in disaster. In his newly published memoir titled "Ella, My Darling: The Healing Power of Dogs", James shares intimate personal anecdotes alongside his struggles with depression and how his beloved spaniel Ella played a crucial role in his recovery. Within the pages of his book, James offers a glimpse into life behind palace walls and fond memories shared with his sister and other royal family members.

In an excerpt from the book, James recalls visiting Kate while she and Prince William lived temporarily on the island of Anglesey in Wales from 2010 to 2013. William was serving as a search and rescue pilot with the Royal Air Force at the time. James fondly remembers enjoying invigorating walks along the dramatic cliffs and beaches of Anglesey with Kate while William was away on duty, keeping a close eye on the tide times. However, on one particular walk during this period, James recounts how he and Kate "nearly found ourselves stranded" after losing track of time while deep in conversation. They only managed to make it back to their cottage after dark by taking a lengthy detour.

Reflecting on Kate and William's life in their coastal retreat with young Prince George, James notes it seemed like a "dream" at the time. He says he would often confide in Ella, sharing his hopes of one day finding someone special and starting a family of his own. A few years later, James' dreams came true when he married Alizee Thevenet in 2021 and they welcomed a son, Inigo, in 2023.

On the same day as her ballet visit, it was also reported that Kate held a planning meeting for her annual Christmas carol service, an event she has hosted at Westminster Abbey for many years and will be broadcast on ITV this Christmas Eve. While resuming some duties, Kate is carefully managing her schedule as she continues her recovery process over the festive season and into the new year. She is expected to join other royals for Remembrance Sunday ceremonies on November 13th, pending approval based on her health at the time.
