Queen Camilla and Princess Anne Have Taken on More Royal Duties While King Charles and Kate Middleton Recover
Over the past few weeks, Queen Camilla and Princess Anne have diligently taken on additional royal responsibilities to help manage engagements and duties while King Charles and Catherine, Princess of Wales recover from recent surgeries. Reports have indicated that the Queen and Princess Royal have been working tirelessly to fulfill royal obligations as the King and Princess heal.
On Thursday, nearly 1000 enthusiastic children in Bath welcomed Queen Camilla during a celebration marking the 850th anniversary of St. John's Foundation Care Homes, which provides support for the elderly. During the engagement, Camilla appeared energetic and engaged in conversations with attendees. 90-year-old Lisa Anderson, who shared tea with the Queen, said her husband is recovering well. Camilla, looking chic in an Anna Valentine coat and blouse designed by Fiona Clare, remarked that gardening is one of the most relaxing activities. "Gardening gets everyone outside. I find it the most relaxing thing in the world," she said.

In addition to representing the King at events while he recovers, Princess Anne has also taken steps to better manage her own busy schedule of duties and engagements. She recently announced the appointment of a new private secretary as well as five additional ladies-in-waiting following the retirement of four senior aides. Known for her straightforward demeanor, the Princess showed a more sentimental side by choosing two of her new ladies-in-waiting who previously served her late mother Queen Elizabeth II.
A palace source indicated to The Daily Mail that Princess Anne is exceptionally hardworking but does not expect her staff to sacrifice their personal lives. "She can seek assistance without it costing the public, especially when she has connections in specific fields, which is the ideal solution," the source said. Another insider likened Anne's team to having a well-rounded "football team with many players," allowing her to delegate responsibilities appropriately.

Over the past month, both the Queen and Princess have represented the royal family at several commemorative Remembrance events honoring fallen soldiers. On November 13th, Queen Camilla laid a wreath at the Cenotaph on behalf of King Charles, who has participated in the ceremony for over 60 years but was unable to attend this year while recovering. Two days later, Princess Anne joined other members of the royal family for the annual Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall.
In addition to remembrance duties, Princess Anne has also undertaken several official overseas visits on behalf of the King. From November 21st-23rd, she traveled to Ottawa, Canada for a multi-day tour. Her itinerary included meetings with Governor General Mary Simon and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, as well as attending a wreath laying and inspecting Canadian Forces at Carleton University.
