Prince William and Catherine were busy preparing for Prince George's upcoming 11th birthday. As the future King of England, George's birthdays are always momentous occasions spent with close family and friends. This year, the young royal will be celebrating his birthday on July 22nd at their Anmer Hall residence in Norfolk.

While George is still quite young, he bears the weight of knowing he will one day rule over the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms. Despite this responsibility, William and Catherine aim to ensure he has as normal a childhood as possible. For his birthday celebrations each year, they throw warm family parties with his younger siblings Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis also in attendance. In previous years, some extended family like Kate's parents Carole and Michael Middleton have joined in the festivities as well.

In 2019, George had an especially opulent 6th birthday. William and Kate took the children on a holiday to the Caribbean island of Mustique, which coincided with George's birthday. Not only is Mustique a privately owned island that offers the family complete privacy, it is also owned by Charles and Camilla. This meant George and his siblings could enjoy their celebrations with their grandparents as well.

The family stayed in a luxurious $27,000 per week villa called Villa Antilles, owned by William's friend Andrew Dunn. The four bedroom property boasted incredible ocean views, a 60 foot infinity pool, jacuzzi, and private staff. A children's room was decorated with nautical themes like whale murals. Mustique has a strict no fly zone, ensuring utter tranquility for wealthy residents and guests like the royal family. Kate's parents also joined the Cambridges for their family getaway.

Mustique holds special significance for the royals, as Princess Margaret frequently vacationed there. Her lady-in-waiting Lady Glenconner gifted Margaret land on the island, where she built a five bedroom villa called La Marguerite after her marriage ended. The secluded property became Margaret's refuge from public life. In 1996, she gave the villa to her son David Linley as a wedding gift. He later sold it for $2.4 million to an American businessman.

Now available to privately rent for around $25,500 per week, the villa overlooks the Caribbean Sea. King Charles also owns an estate on Mustique called Dolphin House, a large granite property with spectacular coastal views. Set within walled gardens perfect for children to play, it provided privacy and relaxation for the royals over the years. Dolphin House remains one of King Charles' favored vacation spots in the islands.

With George's birthday fast approaching, the Cambridge family looks forward to another fun-filled celebration. While the young prince now bears a weighty future as monarch, William and Kate aim to shield him from responsibilities a while longer through family traditions like birthday trips and parties with loved ones. Despite the pressures of his position, enjoying moments of joy and normalcy with siblings and relatives seems to be the Cambridges' priority as George enters his pre-teen years. Both grandmother Diana and grandfather Charles would surely be proud to see their grandson embrace the wonders of childhood for a little while more.
