Prince William's finances and incomes from various royal titles and estates have been exposed, and the numbers are truly staggering. He seems to be raking in millions each year without having to do much actual work. Allow me to break down what has been revealed and why it's angering so many people.
The royal incomes and finances have been a heavy topic of discussion online today. We've learned that Prince William receives a staggering 30 million pounds from his first full year's income as the Duke of Cornwall. This is the title and estate that he inherited from his father, Charles, when he became King. The Duchy of Cornwall publishes an annual report, and the latest one revealed a distributable surplus of 23.6 million pounds for the 2023 fiscal year.

This was Prince William's first full year as the Duke of Cornwall. The 30 million sum is said to cover the official charitable and private expenses of William, Kate Middleton, and their three children. But many are wondering, what exactly do they need 30 million pounds a year for?! None of William's personal projects over the years, such as those focused on climate change, peace in the Middle East, or homelessness, have seemed to make much real impact.
Yet William somehow has the time to film documentaries seemingly for PR purposes to look like he's helping. Why are taxpayers continuing to support this irrelevant and outdated monarchy? The royal family brings in billions from tourism, but they cost British taxpayers well over 100 million pounds every year despite their extreme wealth. It's long past time we abolished the monarchy and stopped this absurd level of public funding.

The leaked income numbers have rightly angered many British citizens. But it gets even more outrageous - on top of William's 30 million pounds, the entire monarchy is set for a 45 million pound pay rise due to soaring profits from the Crown Estate! Profits from the Crown Estate increased to a massive 1.1 billion pounds this year. So not only are royals like Camilla and King Charles already rolling in wealth, they feel entitled to more handouts.
It's disgusting when you consider teachers, nurses and doctors are struggling in the UK with poor pay as public services decline. Homelessness is at record levels while rents and mortgages surge, and wages are stagnant as the cost of living crisis spirals. Yet the royals get a 45 million pound bonus on top of their hundreds of millions? It's a slap in the face of all suffering Brits. The monarchy is laughing at us while living lives of unimaginable wealth and luxury, buying ever more lavish homes.

Supporters claim royals bring in tourism money, but other countries like France abolished their monarchies and saw tourism numbers rise regardless. The Crown Jewels are a national treasure that belong in a museum for all to see, not adorning royals who think they're entitled to parade stolen gems. Charles still thinks he somehow "owns" whole swaths of the UK despite being a leader totally devoid of democratic mandate. The monarchy reeks of outdated, unaccountable privilege and must be abolished as soon as possible.
We need a French Revolution-style banishing of these soulless royal elites who've long overstayed their welcome. Their extravagant displays of wealth are sickening when so many struggle. A 45 million pound pay rise is literal pocket change to these royals yet will be forgotten about even as they hoard more property. Their ability to continually raid taxpayers shows it's time to make them financially independent, or better yet get rid of their privilege altogether.

Many are now more outraged than ever after these exposed annual income reports and pay rise figures. The royals have taken advantage of the British public for far too long. Their time parasitically profiteering off everyday citizens is overdue to end. Please share your thoughts - do you think the monarchy deserves to continue living lavishly as essentially welfare-claiming celebrities? Or is it time forreal democratic and financial reform to curb their power and influence? Let me know in the comments.
