Breaking news this morning - Prince Harry has reportedly returned to the UK for the first time since relocating to California with his wife Meghan Markle and their children Archie and Lilibet. Sources say Harry made a secret dash back to attend the funeral of his late uncle, Lord Fellowes, who passed away last month at age 71. Even more surprising is that Harry has now reunited with his brother Prince William at the funeral service.

Witnesses at St. Mary's Church in Chiddingfold, Surrey where Lord Fellowes' funeral was held on Wednesday said that both Prince Harry and Prince William were in attendance. However, they noted the estranged brothers did not interact or speak to each other during the ceremony. According to a local who spoke to The Sun, "They arrived very discreetly and you wouldn't have known they were there. William and Harry were both there but we never saw them speak to each other, they were keeping their distance." Reports say the brothers sat apart at the back of the church and maintained physical separation throughout the event.

The supposed reunion between Harry and William marks the first time they have been seen together in public in over two years. Their last joint appearance was at the funeral of Prince Philip in April 2022. Relations between the brothers have reportedly soured ever since Harry and Meghan's controversial move to step back from royal duties and their bombshell interview with Oprah where they aired personal grievances about the royal family. Things became even more tense following Harry's autobiography "Spare" where he made additional damaging claims about his relationship with William.

So while it's positive that Harry felt attending his uncle's funeral was important enough to brave a return to the UK, the fact that he and William still did not speak or interact is a clear sign their rift remains unresolved. Some experts believe the pair may never fully reconcile given the deep personal issues and perceived betrayal on both sides. However, others argue that time and common family bonds may eventually help mend the brothers' fractured partnership. Only time will tell if they are able to put aside their differences and repair their once close brotherly bond.

Harry's decision to come back for Lord Fellowes' funeral also suggests his previous security concerns may have been overblown or used as an excuse to avoid family events. His willingness to travel from California without the Met Police protection he has demanded proves he is not completely helpless. It does raise questions around whether he would return for other significant royal milestones like Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June or the eventual funeral of Harry's father Prince Charles.

For now, the most significant takeaway is that Harry and William, once inseparable as young boys, could not even bear to speak to each other at their own uncle's funeral. While no one expects them to be best friends again overnight, the continued silence and separation does little to inspire hope their rift will heal any time soon. Only through open communication and willingness to understand different perspectives can meaningful reconciliation begin. But after all the bitterness aired publicly, that may be easier said than done for the brothers formerly known as "William and Harry together again."
