PRINCE WHO? Richard Marx IGNORES And WALKS PAST Harry At Kevin Costner's Charity Event

Last week at Kevin Costner's star-studded charity event for his Waterkeepers Alliance foundation, it seemed Prince Harry was given a stark reminder that his celebrity status isn't what it used to be. While backstage after rock legend Richard Marx's performance, Harry patiently waited hoping to chat with the 80s hitmaker. However, Marx almost walked right past Harry completely oblivious to his presence lingering on the sidelines.

It wasn't until another person introduced the two that Marx even realized the British royal was there. His reaction showed a mix of confusion and polite disinterest, like when you're introduced to a distant cousin you haven't seen in years. One would think being a Prince would still command some reverence, but it was clear Marx could have quite happily walked away without the interaction.

And Harry's attempts to grab Marx's attention didn't go as planned either. Despite reintroducing himself as "Prince Harry", perhaps thinking the royal title would carry more influence, the rockstar seemed more perplexed to have to deal with Harry at all. The brief conversation fizzled out fast, with Marx mustering little more than a handshake and a perfunctory "Hey, well done".

The awkward moment was even captured and shared on Instagram by Marx's wife Daisy Fuentes, much to the collective cringing of observers. But Fuentes didn't stop there - she helpfully tagged the @PrinceHarryofEngland fan account, as well as the official @dukeandduchessofcambridge account for Prince William and Kate Middleton. Was this subtle shade being thrown Harry's way to remind him of the real senior working royals still enjoying respect and popularity?

While the Instagram post framed it as a meaningful exchange between the celebrity and Prince, it's clear this was little more than an obligatory acknowledgement out of polite necessity for the cameras. Gone are the days when Harry's royal status alone commanded instant admiration and deference. Now he's left standing awkwardly hoping for recognition from people who have no real reason to know or care who he is.

Even deploying his royal title didn't help in this case, showing how far Harry's star power and relevance have fallen since distancing himself from the royal family. Where he once basked in global admiration, now he's relegated to moments like this - practically invisible even to those who should recognize him. As the evening wore on, it became apparent no one was clamoring for Harry's attention or hanging on his every word like in the past.

This incident highlights that Harry isn't as important as he seems to think. With his celebrity and influence diminishing since stepping back as a senior working royal, he appears to be left desperately grasping for relevance any way he can find it. But forced interactions like this only serve as further reminders of how far his stock has declined. Perhaps it's time for Harry to realize not every celebrity is as enthralled by his presence as his ego would like to believe. In today's world, having a royal title means little without purpose or work to back it up. This reality check from Richard Marx may be just what Harry needs to recalibrate his mindset.
