It has been well over two years since Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle made the decision to step down as working royals and move to North America, pursuing financial independence and privacy for their growing family. However, their departure from royal duties does not appear to have mended the rift with Harry's older brother Prince William that began prior to "Megxit." Reports continue to emerge of an icy relationship between the two brothers that once shared a close bond.

In September 2022, William and Harry were together briefly to mourn their grandfather Prince Philip at his funeral at St. George's Chapel in Windsor. However, it was said they did not interact or speak to each other, arriving and leaving separately. This continues a years-long pattern of the siblings keeping their distance when they do cross paths at family events. Their reunion did little to stem speculation about a ongoing family feud.
In March 2021, the simmering tensions boiled over when Harry and Meghan gave a highly publicized interview to Oprah Winfrey. In it, Harry made a series of shocking claims about his treatment by the royal family and decisions they had made. He spoke of feeling "really let down" by his father Prince Charles and said William was "trapped" within the royal system. Harry also said William was "jealous" of his relationship with Meghan in the early days. These bombshell statements immediately fueled rumours of a rift that had grown into a gulf between the brothers.

In his recent memoir Spare, released in January 2023, Harry shared more private details about his estrangement from William. He claimed William questioned Meghan's intentions early in their relationship and was angry that Harry was spending so much time with her in the initial stages of their romance. Harry also asserted that William physically attacked him during an argument over Meghan before their wedding in 2018. These deeply personal attacks did little to repair their strained bond.

Sources close to William have since responded to Harry's claims, calling them "unnecessary" and further straining already tense relations. A friend of William's was quoted in the Daily Beast saying that as far as the prince is concerned, Harry has now become "irrelevant" in terms of his work within the royal family. They implied that any role Harry hoped to take on to assist the monarchy would not be welcome or supported by William.

The relationship between the brothers appears unlikely to reconcile any time soon. William is said to consider Harry "disloyal" after his interviews and keeps him at arm's length. Reports even speculate that William does not want Harry to attend his coronation when he becomes King, not wanting to bestow that honor due to his brother's perceived disloyalty.

In a new rumour, the Mirror claims Harry has expressed openness to taking on a part-time role assisting the royal family if King Charles requested it. However, the condition for this offer is said to be an apology from William. With sources close to William dismissing these theories and considering Harry as having no meaningful part to play, any prospect of reconciliation seems remote. The deep wounds laid bare in Harry's tell-all memoirs are also unlikely help mend fences.

For now, the estranged brothers continue living very separate lives - William dedicated to his duties as the heir to the throne in Britain with wife Kate and their three children, while Harry focuses on raising his family in California with Meghan removed from the royal spotlight. Unless some significant reconciliation effort is made, it appears the icy relationship between Princes William and Harry shows no signs of thawing any time soon as past transgressions remain unforgiven. The once close siblings now seem destined to remain estranged for the foreseeable future.
