Proud royal mom Sarah Ferguson was left furious when her daughter's glitzy wedding plans were upstaged by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle making a huge announcement of their own, according to insiders. Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank tied the knot at a star-studded event back in 2018.
Fergie had hoped all eyes would be on her youngest daughter on her big day. The guest list to Eugenie and Jack's wedding included Liv Tyler, Demi Moore, Robbie Williams, Ellie Goulding, Kate Moss, and James Blunt. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were so happy for the couple that they postponed their Royal tour to Australia just to make the big day.
However, the Duke and Duchess reportedly used the joyous get-togethers surrounding the marriage in 2018 as an opportunity to share that Meghan was pregnant with their first child. The announcement was met with delight in the family but the timing left Fergie fuming.

Tom Bower wrote in his book "Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the war between the Windsors" that many wondered why Meghan chose to reveal her news on the bride's big day. He added that Meghan "put her foot in it" when she decided that it would be the ideal moment to announce that she and Harry were expecting their first child.
Dylan Howard and Andy Tillett wrote in their book "Royals at War: The Untold Story of Harry and Meghan's Shocking Split with the House of Windsor" that this was a huge social gaffe even if you weren't royal, stealing the limelight from Eugenie who was furious, as was her mother Sarah.
In his book "Spare", Prince Harry said that the couple told Prince Charles shortly before Eugenie and Jack's drinks reception at Windsor Castle, while he was in his study. Harry wrote that he decided to tell William afterwards, when he and Meghan pulled him aside. He explains that the heir to the throne straight away gave a forward response, saying "We whispered the news and Will smiled and said we must tell Kate - she was across the room talking to Pippa. I said we could do it later but he insisted."

Despite what might seem like a faux pas announcing a pregnancy at a wedding, Harry and Meghan are said to have remained close to Eugenie and her husband Jack despite the reported frostiness between the Sussexes and other members of the royal family in the years since.
Kensington Palace made the official baby announcement three days later on October 15th, 2018. Meghan gave birth to Prince Archie seven months later in May 2019 at the private Portland Hospital in London. Breaking from tradition, the couple decided not to pose for the traditional hospital steps royal photos.

Harry gave a spontaneous interview outside Windsor Castle shortly after Archie was born, praising his wife. "I'm very excited to announce that Meghan and myself had a baby boy this morning, a very healthy baby boy," he said. "I haven't been to many births. This is definitely my first birth. It was amazing, absolutely incredible. I'm so incredibly proud of my wife."
