It seems that wherever Meghan Markle goes, drama and controversy are sure to follow. During a recent royal tour of Colombia with Prince Harry, Meghan managed to stir up tension yet again with her behavior towards the husband of Colombia's Vice President.
The Sussexes were visiting Colombia for a series of events promoting women's empowerment and traditional Colombian culture. Everything appeared to be going smoothly until an incident at a reception for Afro-Colombian women that threatened to turn diplomatic.

At the reception, Meghan greeted Vice President Francia Marquez's husband Raphael Yi with a kiss on each cheek, which is a customary greeting in Latin American cultures. However, Meghan didn't stop there. Video footage shows that she proceeded to give Raphael a full body hug and extended back rub, actions that were clearly too intimate under the circumstances.
It's no surprise that Francia Marquez was visibly angered by Meghan's overfamiliar behavior towards her husband. Video shows the Vice President watching with a look of rage as Meghan touched her spouse. Marquez looked ready to confront - or even attack - Meghan to defend her territory. Only with extreme restraint did she manage to hold back from a physical confrontation.

Instead, Marquez forcefully inserted herself between Meghan and Raphael, making it clear without words that the Duchess's actions had crossed a line. Understandably, no public official wants to see another woman behaving in such an intimate fashion with their partner. Meghan seemed oblivious to the storm of tension she had caused, acting as if the fuming Vice President didn't exist at all.
Likely familiar with his wife's tendency to find herself in these sorts of situations, Prince Harry stepped in quickly. He grabbed Meghan's arm and pulled her away, preventing a diplomatic incident from fully unfolding. The internet was soon ablaze with commentary about Meghan's history of inappropriate interactions with other women's husbands.

Multiple reports emerged analyzing Meghan's track record of overly familiar behavior with married men. From Serena Williams's husband to Prince William himself, Meghan does seem to make a habit of getting too physically close and flirty. Whether these interactions are intentional or not is up for debate, but it's clear that many wives feel understandably uncomfortable by her actions.
Meghan's refusal to acknowledge Francia Marquez's anger by completely ignoring her presence spoke volumes. It showed a stunning lack of awareness, sensitivity or respect on Meghan's part for the boundaries and feelings of another married woman. Her behavior left the Vice President understandably furious and questioning the wisdom of inviting Meghan in the first place.

This isn't the first controversy caused by Meghan's interactions with other men either. She famously flashed her breasts at Serena Williams's husband while celebrating at the US Open in 2014. Reports also emerged of Meghan being "overly tactile" with Prince William during her early days of dating Prince Harry, actions that apparently contributed to ongoing tension with Kate Middleton.
It's no secret that Meghan tends to make married men, and their wives, feel uneasy with her intimate behavior. While she may see these actions as friendly or meaningless flirtations, it's important for public figures like Meghan to consider how her gestures will be perceived by others. Physical intimacy is best left between partners, especially at formal events representing two countries.

Meghan's encounter in Colombia reinforces perceptions that she lacks self-awareness for proper boundaries in relationships. Her unwillingness to acknowledge social cues shows a disconnect from understanding other people's valid discomfort. While her intentions may have been friendly, the results speak for themselves - another official partner made to feel disrespected on the global stage.

One can only imagine the fury expressed behind closed doors in the Marquez household after this embarrassing incident. It was surely a relief for diplomatic relations that Harry managed to intervene before the situation escalated further. However, the damage to Meghan's reputation as someone who oversteps and disregards boundaries remains. Her behavior continues fueling the notion that drama follows wherever she goes. With behavior like this, it's hard to blame observers for seeing Meghan as her own worst enemy.
